This policy covers the Grainvia iOS app and this support website, provided by developer Weiping Huang (DaysInYear). Contact: daysinyear@foxmail.com.
1. Photos and editing stay on your device
Grainvia processes the photos you select, editing settings, text layers and person-segmentation masks on your device. We do not upload this content to a developer server, use it to train models, or identify people. Person segmentation separates a subject from its background; it is not an identity-recognition service.
You choose photos through the iOS system picker. Saving an edited image to Photos requests permission to add images. Sharing happens only when you choose a destination in the system share sheet. The destination then handles the shared content under its own policies.
1.1. Face data and on-device machine learning
Photos you select may contain faces. Grainvia does not extract or store facial landmarks, face embeddings, three-dimensional face models or identity-recognition templates, and does not identify people. Some editing effects use Apple Vision’s on-device machine learning to generate a mask that separates people from the background. This mask may include the outline of a person’s head and is used only for layered editing. Photos and masks are not uploaded to a developer server or a third-party AI service, and are not used to train models. The app does not use generative AI. When you actively share an exported image, it is handled by the recipient you choose.
2. Local storage and deletion
Drafts can store a copy of the selected image, typed text and editing settings inside the app’s storage. The app also keeps local preferences and derived mask caches. Photo copies and person masks follow the retention practices in section 2.1. Preferences remain until changed or deleted with the app. To remove all app-local data, use iOS Delete App, not Offload App. Exported images in Photos must be deleted separately. iOS or iCloud backups may retain app data according to your device settings; manage those backups through Apple’s controls.
2.1. Retention of photo copies and person masks
Draft image copies have no fixed automatic expiration period and may remain in the app’s local storage until you remove its data using iOS Delete App. Starting to edit another photo does not guarantee deletion of earlier image copies. The current person-mask disk cache retains up to 64 files; when newly added files exceed that limit, older files are removed. The system may also clear cached files. Closing the editor does not immediately delete these files. Offload App may retain app data. Exported images in Photos and device or iCloud backups must be managed or deleted separately using Apple’s controls.
3. Purchases
Apple processes payments and subscriptions. Grainvia uses StoreKit transaction information, such as product, purchase, expiry and revocation status, to verify and restore Pro access. We do not receive your payment-card details or Apple Account password. Apple handles its own records under the Apple Privacy Policy.
4. Diagnostics and support
The app keeps rotating diagnostic logs locally to troubleshoot failures. They may contain app and iOS versions, device class, operation status and error codes. We do not intentionally log image contents, typed text, payment receipts or credentials. Logs are not automatically uploaded. A diagnostic archive is shared only if you export it and choose a recipient.
If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. We use them to answer your request and investigate the issue. We retain correspondence only as needed for that purpose and applicable legal obligations; you may request deletion. Email delivery is also handled by the email providers involved. Please omit passwords, payment details and unnecessary personal images.
5. Analytics, tracking and this website
The app has no developer-operated account system, advertising SDK, Firebase analytics or automatic third-party analytics upload. We do not sell personal data or use it for cross-app advertising tracking.
This website uses GitHub Pages. It contains no analytics scripts, advertising, tracking pixels or externally hosted fonts. GitHub logs visitors’ IP addresses for security, as described in GitHub Pages data collection and the GitHub Privacy Statement. External links and email services have their own privacy practices.
6. Your choices and requests
You can decline photo-saving permission, change it in iOS Settings, avoid sharing diagnostics, and delete local data as described above. We cannot remotely access or delete your device’s photos. For support correspondence, contact us to request access, correction or deletion, or exercise other applicable privacy rights. Depending on your location, you may also contact your data-protection authority. We use support details to respond to your request and comply with applicable obligations, not for advertising.
7. Children and changes
Grainvia does not request a child’s personal profile. A parent or guardian who believes a child sent us personal information may contact us for deletion. If our data practices change, we will update this page and its effective date, and provide any notice or consent required by applicable law.
